Temple Baptist Church was organized in October 1957. It began, and still is, what all Baptist churches where historically – Independent. An Independent Baptist Church is a self governed fellowship of believers with a positive message of salvation by grace through faith, as found in the Gospel, based upon the careful teaching and preaching of the Word of God.
Our plan is to use methods that are spiritual. Using prayer and the preaching and teaching of the Word of God. We believe that this is the best way for our members to grow spiritually and establish a strong relationship with the Lord.
Our purpose is not to change the world politically, but people spiritually. We believe in laws, but laws are no better than the people who support them. By beginning with ourselves and reaching out to others within the community we hope to be a lighthouse for the Lord and see others realize the power of God in their lives as well as the gift of salvation.
Our preaching is an explanation of the “Whole Counsel of God” as found in the Scriptures on a given subject. Our fellowship is based upon a strictly maintained doctrinal position set forth by the historic Baptist Faith that maintains the Virgin Birth, Deity of Christ, Vicarious Atonement, Bodily resurrection, and Second Coming.
Our Preserved Word
We hold that God has preserved His Word to us in the King James translation (1611) as promised in Psalms 12:6-7, that we have in this translation ALL of the Word of God, and that it was meticulously and prayerfully translated from the Hebrew and Greek (Textus Receptus). It is our sole authority in all matters of faith and practice.
Our Sunday School
Our Sunday School material for our adult class is prepared by our senior Deacon and long time adult Sunday school teacher. It is solely based on scripture with emphasis on verse by verse exposition. Our children’s lessons are prepared and taught by the same ladies who operate our Kids for Christ program and are based on age appropriate lessons to prepare our young people to understand and live by the teachings of the Bible.
Our Mission Program
It is the desire of the membership to actively engage in missions, to go “house to house” , to visit the sick and shut ins, to bring the message of salvation beginning in the neighboring community and spreading out by regularly supporting missionary and evangelistic efforts both at home and abroad.
Our music program is chosen from the old songs of Faith” to this purpose:
1. To express our worship
2. To prepare the hearts of individuals to receive the Word of God
3. To reach the unsaved with the Gospel
We choose songs that convey a spiritual, rather than a worldly atmosphere, which exalts Christ and His precious work..
